These snickerdoodles are great crowd pleasers over and over again. While I don't remember where I have gotten this recipe, it has been the preferred list of ingredients for a party a few times. Like most cookie recipes, you have most of the ingredients already in the pantry. Sometimes it's easier to go to the store to just buy these cinnamon wonders, but it's much more fun to make them.

Makes at least 3 dozen

  • 1 1/2 cup            sugar
  • 1/2 cup              butter
  • 1/2 cup              shortening
  • 2 ea                  eggs
  • 2 3/4 cup          all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp                 cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp                  baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp              salt
  • 3 tbsp              sugar [For rolling dough only]
  • 6 tsp                ground cinnamon [For rolling dough only]

  1. Preheat oven to 400.
  2. Mix sugar, butter, shortening, and eggs. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Shape by rounded teaspoon. Roll ball in the last two ingredients of sugar and cinnamon mixed together. Bake at 10-12 minutes in oven. Move to wire rack to cool.
