Most slow cooker chicken wings recipes that I came upon were mainly for honey bbq wings, honey chipotle wings, or basic buffalo wings. I was so thrilled to find this recipe using apricot preserves, especially since I really enjoyed a local company's food product: Taste Buds's Apricot Preserves out of Wimberley, TX. The prep was simple enough, and most of the work was done in the slow cooker (of course).
Pulling from Mom Endeavors, she recommended not to use sweet bbq sauce as an option, just a basic bbq sauce. These aren't spicy, so you could always give it a kick with a small swivel of hot sauce, whether in the mixture or on top of finished wings on your own. I drizzled some Pete's Hot Sauce on top of the wings after cooking. These are definitely snacks or appetizers, but not for a full meal. The taste would become too much if you eat a lot of them as a meal.
